Ring Video Doorbell 4

The Ring Video Doorbell 4 (link to Amazon) is the latest addition to the Ring Video Doorbell line. It's an update to the Ring Video Doorbelll 3 Plus. New in this version, is the color Pre-Roll feature which gives you color footage from 4 seconds before the motion dectector was activated. This gives a better chance of seeing what (or who) exactly set off the camera.

The color Pre-Roll video is recorded at 720p resolution. While regular video is transmitted at the full 1080p HD resolution. Field of view for the Video Doorbell 4 is 160 degrees horizontal and 84 degrees vertical.

Another new feature on the Video Doorbell 4 is Quick Replies. This is set of six pre-set messages that can automatically respond to visitors if you're not available to answer the door. Ring likes to think of it as an "answering machine for your front door."

One nice feature is the ability to set up multiple users under the same household. Of course, proper permissions will need to be granted by the administrator of the doorbell camera application. Activating this feature allows all users to be notified of any activity from the doorbell camera.

Does Ring Work with Google Home?

First, I absolutely love the 2-way audio capabilities with Ring doorbell cameras. It’s almost like being able to Facetime anyone who comes to your door.

If you’re in the backyard busy with the dog or upstairs trying to get the 2-year-old down for a nap and the doorbell rings, you can just pop open the app on your smartphone and let your visitor know that it’s not a good time at the moment and to stop by later.

Another thing I love is that, in my opinion, Ring offers one of the most stylish designs in doorbell cameras compared to other brands. Also, the interchangeable faceplates are great for those who want the doorbell to really blend in with the exterior finish of the house.

At the end of the day, Ring doesn’t have to be doorbell camera you select, but it should definitely be considered in the final running.
